摘 要
中美关系是全球最重要的双边关系之一，它将中国这一个世界上人口最多的国家和世界上唯一的超级大国——美国联系在一起。更重要的是中美关系的发展不仅有利于保护两国人民的切身利益而且在维护世界和平和亚太地区和平稳定等方面扮演了重要的角色。
一直以来，中美关系复杂多变。其根本原因在于两国在政治体制和意识形态上的巨大差异。这种差异决定了两国不可能成为真正的伙伴，而沟通与交流的贫乏导致了对两国文化的误读，从而使美国人民对于中国的刻板印象得不到根本的改善。在实际的双边交往过程中台湾问题、人权问题、双边贸易、知识产权等双边关系主要问题时常引起争端，制造紧张局势。虽然中美关系面临许多困难，但仍有许多积极因素促使双边关系和谐发展。只要中美两国采取适当的政策，一定能对双边问题做妥善解决。经过了七八十年代的动荡时期，中美关系进入了一个相对稳定的阶段。如今，中美两国在反恐、环境保护、防核扩散、以及维护亚太地区和平与稳定等方面享有越来越多的共同利益。中美关系的发展的道路布满鲜花与荆棘。中美关系的未来将在曲折中不断发展。

Abstract
Sino-US relations is the most important bilateral relations in the world. It connects the world’s most populous country with the only Super Power. Most importantly, the development of this relations can not only effect on the benefits of the two nations but also play a positive role of the stability of Asian-Pacific area and the world peace.
Nowadays, Sino-US relations is complex and volatile. The root causes are the different social system and ideology. Different social systems and ideology make the two nations no real partners. Lack of communication also deepens the cultural misunderstanding. Both of the two countries should pursue the common interest and settle the difference.
In the process of bilateral communication and exchanges there are some problems often provoke tensions, such as bilateral trade, Taiwan Issue, Intellectual property rights protection and human rights. Though Sino-Us bilateral relations faces many problems, there are still many elements that play a positive role. The future of Sino-US bilateral relations will be a bright one. After the time of turbulence in 70s and 80s Sino-US relations comes to a relatively stable period. Today, China and the US share more and more common interests in anti-terrorism, environmental protection, anti-nuclear proliferation, preserving peace in Asian-Pacific region and so on. China and the US can transcend the main problems of bilateral relations if both of them adopt the right policies.
