Abstract
English, as an international language, draws more and more peoples’ attention; Pupils’ teaching, as a fundamental step of education, gains the principal focus from publics. It is all known that interest is the best teacher. Therefore, it is quite necessary to foster pupils’ interests in English. However, because of young age and psychological features of pupils, they always tend to cognize and know the world by themselves. No matter what they do, they always want to have a look at it, touch it, or even try it by themselves. Thus when teachers intend to foster pupils’ interests in English, they must consider these factors. This paper is mainly discussed how to deal with this problem, that is to say, how to foster the pupils’ interests in English teaching .The paper argues it from three parts, such as pupils’ features in English learning, some views about interest and four stages to foster pupils’ interests. Firstly, compared with adults, Pupils have their own features. They are so curious about many things that they are distracted easily and consequently they have a short attention span. And they are also imaginative, creative and fond of playing. Then, the paper argues the nature of interest, the importance of interest and some factors influencing on it— teachers and their parents. Finally the paper suggests four stages to foster the pupils’ interests. The first step is to stimulate their interests with lively and relaxed studying environment and funny studying materials. In order to build a better studying environment, teachers should teach with passions and do some warm-up games. As for funny studying materials, teachers could teach something connecting with their daily life, ask pupils to design materials for learning and take advantage of mnemonic rhyme, that is to say, using key words for studying English. The second one is to improve interest by various assessments and multimedia programs. The third step is to get the motivation to learn English by creating situation and role playing. The last and the most important one is to gain the ability of learning English effectively by free talk. According to the mentioned above, interest and pupilage are two key points for learning. Therefore, as a teacher, one must try his/her best to foster pupils’ interests with various teaching methodology and application on different activities or modern teaching devices.

英语,作为一门国际语言,越来越受到重视。作为启蒙教育的基石,小学生英语教育成为关注的“热点”。众所周知,兴趣是学生最好的老师。所以培养小学生学习英语的兴趣是至关重要的。而小学生由于年龄及心理特点往往通过自身的活动去认识世界,体验生活,习得经验。特别时在小学生的生活和学习中,直觉行动思维占主导地位,无论做什么总想亲自去看以看,听一听,摸一摸,试一试。在小学生的英语教育实践过程中,顺应小学生的这种成长规律,让他们在动中学,玩中学,在没有思想压力的情况下,轻轻松松的学英语。因此,老师就应在考虑到这些因素的前提下,积极地创造条件,激发和培养学生学习英语的兴趣,才能提高小学生英语的教育的效果,减轻他们的学习负担,让小学生乐学好学。这篇文章主要从三方面来行进讨论的,即小学生的特点,关于兴趣的一些观点和培养小学生学习英语兴趣的四个阶段。具体来说,首先谈论的是小学生的注意力时间比较短,好奇心强,想象力丰富且他们很乐于做游戏。其次讨论的是兴趣的定义,重要性分析以及影响兴趣的因素。最后指出培养兴趣的四阶段和一些具体的实践方法。其中四阶段具体为:激发兴趣,发展兴趣以及在兴趣的基础上获得学习的动力和得到有效学习英语的能力。实践方法都应根据小学生特点来组建的些活动,因此,在培养兴趣时,就特别要注重游戏和多媒体等小学生比较有兴趣的教学方式,以此来培养小学生学习英语的兴趣。
