Abstract
There are trade activities, cultural communication, colonization, immigration, wars and conquests and other contacts between different nations, inevitably, all of which lead to mutual borrowings and absorptions between languages that are common phenomena in the development of a language. Loanword is a foreign culture carrier and plays an active part in the process of language borrowing; the contacts of different societies and cultures are bound to cause the appearance of loanwords，and impose great influence on a nation’s language, culture and ways of thinking. Loanwords, to a large extent, enrich and develop the target language, but they give the target language more cultural connotations and ways of thinking. The culture and ways of thinking of a nation put more influences on the target language nation than its language. The paper begins with a discussion of the new loanwords “fans” and “PK” in Chinese language, from the perspective of linguistics and psychology with an analysis on the reasons, process, ways, results of words borrowing in English and Chinese language as well as of the influence of English culture and ways of thinking into Chinese language and culture, aiming at studying the attitudes and principles of borrowing words from other languages into Chinese, hopefully, which can be benefit to the development of Chinese language.
